Musk, who founded xAI, said that “if Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level, then Apple devices will be banned at my companies,” and called that integration “an unacceptable security violation.”

Apple and OpenAI have implemented precautions, with OpenAI saying that “requests are not stored by OpenAI.” Still, Musk might make visitors check their Apple devices. Will Windows devices need to be checked, too?

Kevin Weil, a Facebook product veteran, is joining in the newly-created role of chief product officer. Ex-Nextdoor CEO Sarah Friar is also joining as chief financial officer.

Google’s new ad showcases the many things its Gemini large language model can do — from the Gemini chatbot to Circle to Search and AI Overviews.

I can’t believe we’ve entered the LLM ad phase of this reality, but with ChatGPT becoming a household name and “Apple Intelligence” around the corner, the branding efforts will only increase.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman ahead of Monday’s WWDC event:

The company’s new AI system will be called Apple Intelligence, and it will come to new versions of the iPhone, iPad and Mac operating systems.

Inaccurate AI-generated stories were an important part of the BNN business model — “churning out hundreds, even thousands, of stories a day.” Some of BNN’s stories were republished by MSN.com or linked by reputable outlets.

The Wall Street Journal has published a retrospective of how Apple’s caution in working on its devices has “hobbled its early efforts in the AI arena.” Part of the problem, according to the WSJ, was a group that adopted Google’s loose approach to deadlines.

The standalone app is now available in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, and others. The Android app, announced in February, brings the Gemini chatbot to mobile. But if you’re on iOS, you have to download the Google App to use Gemini.

Google introduced AI extensions last year, letting the bot formerly-known-as Bard connect with other Google apps and services. It’s continued expanding the feature, most recently adding a connection between Gemini and YouTube Music, but now Android Authority has found code in the app indicating Gemini could connect to Spotify, too, eventually.

Hopefully, Gemini works better than our experience with the Rabbit R1.
